Innovative multi-level security concept
The safety concept
Maximum efficiency and maximum safety – that's what Dimplex R290 heat pumps are all about.
A new, innovative concept has been developed for System C® in collaboration with experts. It consists of several stages and combines design measures, electronic monitoring and safe installation conditions.
This ensures maximum safety both inside the building and at the heat pump installation site.
The result:
- No additional installation work
- No annual maintenance of the propane sensor
- No special requirements for hydraulic integration in the building – and maximum protection for people and the environment!
The most important aspects
- Structural separation of sensitive components:
The electronic switch box and refrigeration circuit are located on opposite sides of the unit and separated by the ventilator. - Low refrigerant quantity:
The use of only a small quantity (< 5 kg) of the flammable refrigerant R290 enables maximum safety and carefree operation of System C®. - Integrated safety components:
Gas separators and safety valves in combination with an electronically evaluated propane sensor offer maximum protection. - Design measures on the casing:
The outer panels are not only screwed on, but also suspended from the casing by a patented bracket so thatthey fold down in a controlled manner. - Reliable safety distances:
Extensive tests have been carried out to evaluate various installation conditions, e.g. on walls, and the resulting safety area has been defined Safety distance.
Safety first
Distances and installation conditions
Outdoors, the safety requirements and clearances for successful commissioning must be strictly observed.
- The heat pump must be installed at least 80 cm away from the wall.
- If the heat pump is wall-mounted and raised 40 cm above the ground, the protection zone is 1 m.
- There must be no openings (windows, doors, ventilation outlets, etc.) or ignition sources (sockets, light switches, lamps, etc.) in this area.
- Building penetrations in this area must be airtight.
- The safety area must not extend to neighbouring properties or public traffic areas.
