Efficiency meets bathroom comfort
Heat pumps offer a sustainable and efficient solution for central heating and are regarded as the number one heat source both now and in the future. However, when there is a short-term need for heat – such as for a pleasantly warm bathroom in the morning – they occasionally reach their limits. The clever solution: combining them with supplementary electric heating. Whether it’s an elegant bathroom radiator, cosy infrared heating or comfortable electric underfloor heating – together with the heat pump, this creates a well-thought-out heating concept that combines maximum flexibility, noticeable comfort and maximum energy efficiency. Perfectly tailored to the specific requirements of the bathroom, this system ensures cosy warmth exactly when it’s needed.
In modern bathrooms, it is not just design and high-quality materials that matter – energy efficiency and comfort also play a key role. This is precisely where the demand for heat is particularly high: the higher humidity, the desire for rapid heating, or the individual need for a comfortable, cosy temperature make the bathroom a room with specific requirements. Whilst temperatures of 20 to 21 °C are often considered comfortable in living areas, many people prefer temperatures of 23 to 24 °C or even higher in the bathroom – for a cosy feeling from the moment they step inside.
Electric bathroom radiators – the perfect complement to a heat pump
Heat pumps operate particularly efficiently at low flow temperatures. However, especially during the transitional seasons or when there is a sudden need for heat – such as in the bathroom in the morning or evening – an electric bathroom radiator can significantly enhance comfort by providing rapid, targeted heat independently of the central heating system, precisely when it is needed.
Modern electric bathroom radiators – such as the models from Dimplex – are equipped with smart thermostats and timer functions.
This allows energy consumption to be specifically controlled and optimised. With a typical output of 500 to 1000 watts and a daily running time of 1 to 2 hours, electricity consumption is around 0.5 to 2 kWh per day. This equates to monthly costs of around €10 to €20 – depending on the electricity tariff, particularly during the transitional season. When combined with green electricity or your own solar panel system, operation can be made particularly environmentally friendly – and in the best-case scenario, even cost-neutral.
Dimplex offers a wide range of electric bathroom radiators with different heat outputs, designs and functions – suitable for every room size, interior and comfort requirement.
they fit into almost any bathroom.
hooks, e.g. for bathrobes. A feel-good factor for the bathroom: thanks to their high proportion of radiant heat, the warmth from an infrared heater, such as this one from the Naturstein IRC series by Dimplex, is felt more quickly and directly on the body.
Infrared heating – targeted warmth with a feel-good factor
Infrared heaters generate pleasant radiant heat in the infrared spectrum – similar to the sun’s rays. Unlike conventional convection heaters, they do not heat the air in the room, but instead heat surfaces and people directly. This creates a particularly cosy feeling of warmth, without any air turbulence.
The heaters usually consist of slim, flat panels that are discreetly mounted on the wall or ceiling. They operate silently, are virtually maintenance-free and heat up in less than 10 minutes – ideal for targeted use in the bathroom. Whether ceiling panels or changing table heaters: Dimplex offers the right model for every need.
As the heat is emitted in a targeted manner, the room temperature can often be set 1–2 °C lower – whilst maintaining the same level of comfort. This saves energy. Depending on size and usage, electricity consumption is around 0.3 to 1.5 kWh per day.
Heat requirements can be easily calculated. The Dimplex brochure “Infrared Panels – Planning Comfortable Heat Correctly: How Heating Works Based on the Sun’s Model” contains helpful tips on the design and planning of efficient infrared heating.
Electric underfloor heating – noticeably greater comfort in the shower
Electric underfloor heating installed directly beneath the tiles ensures a particularly pleasant showering experience. It prevents cold feet, speeds up the drying of the floor and reduces the risk of slipping – a real bonus in terms of comfort and safety.
The flat heating mats are easy to install under the tiles and are ideal for both new builds and renovations. Controlled via a room thermostat with an additional temperature sensor in the floor, the temperature and operating time can be precisely adjusted. With a typical output of 100–160 W/m² and targeted use of one to two hours a day, energy consumption remains moderate – whilst maximising comfort.
Additional technology
The clever combination of a heat pump, electric bathroom radiator, infrared heating and underfloor heating forms a forward-thinking heating solution for the bathroom. It combines high energy efficiency with personalised comfort – and transforms the bathroom into a modern oasis of well-being with maximum functionality.
It also features a rapid heating function.
