In a commercial property dating from the 1970s in Lampertheim, which houses a Woolworths store and a gym, amongst other things, the existing heating system has been replaced by a natural gas-fired central heating system. The previous system operated at a flow temperature of 75°C and had a heating capacity of around 320 kW. The modernisation required an energy-efficient, future-proof and cost-effective solution for the entire heated area of around 3,100 m². Hot water is provided by decentralised electric systems. The new calculated heating load is 155 kW with a flow temperature of 58 °C.

The requirement was to switch to a climate-friendly, sustainable and cost-effective heat supply for the entire commercial property.

Project facts

  • Modernisation: Heating system
  • Commercial property housing several businesses
  • Heat distribution: HVAC systems with heat recovery and radiators
  • Plug-and-play containerised hydraulics
  • Air-to-water heat pump
  • Heated area: 3,100 m²

Special feature
Bespoke design and plug-and-play container solution, including a hydraulic station for roof installation, and single-fuel operation for heating with multiple heating circuits

A modern system solution featuring four LA 60P-TUR air-to-water heat pumps

The fossil fuel gas heating system in a commercial property was replaced with a climate-friendly heat pump system for heating.

A highly efficient Dimplex system solution was used, consisting of:

  • Four LA 60P-TUR air-to-water heat pumps with natural refrigerant R290
  • Hydraulic container as a plug-and-heat concept, tailor-made for roof installation
  • WPM Touch Master control unit
  • 2000-litre buffer tank
  • Monovalent heating operation with multiple heating circuits
  • Quick and easy commissioning thanks to existing pre-configuration
  • Dimplex provided support with the precise adjustment of the hydraulic components
  • Hot water is still provided decentrally by electric heating

The compact container solution enabled a space-saving installation on the roof, completely independent of interior space and protected from external damage.

Installation & operation: Fast, efficient, future-proof

Thanks to the system components being pre-configured as standard, the entire system could be commissioned quickly and easily. Dimplex provided on-site support with the precise adjustment of the hydraulic components and the seamless integration of the containerised solution. Hot water is still provided locally via an electric system.

Numerous functions are available for intelligent control:

  • Precise control via WPM Touch Master, connected to the building management system
  • Eight output levels for demand-driven, efficient heat supply – even with changing usage patterns such as public holidays
  • Option for remote access and monitoring via the Dimplex Home App and the building management system

Technical specifications of the LA 60P-TUR (excerpt)

  • Operating limits for heating: –22 to +40 °C
  • Energy efficiency class (NT): A++ / 171%
  • Heating capacity A2/W35: 44.6 kW, COP 3.6
  • Heating capacity A–7/W35: 42.1 kW, COP 3.1
  • Refrigerant: R290, charge 7.6 kg
  • Sound power level: 70 dB(A)

Project planning, service and safety

The planning and design were carried out by Dimplex. The factory after-sales service team, together with the contracted installation company, carried out the commissioning. A Quick Installation Guide further simplified the process.
The comprehensive Dimplex warranty package and regular maintenance ensure safe, efficient and long-lasting operation of the system.

Result: A pioneering, carbon-free heating solution for commercial properties

The new Dimplex system solution provides a completely fossil-free, efficient and sustainable heating solution for the entire property – a pioneering example of how commercial properties can be modernised.

The combination of natural refrigerant, modular technology, intelligent control and quick installation demonstrates just how easy it can be to switch to a climate-friendly heating solution today.
